CASTERLINE/GOODMAN GALLERY @ the Little Nell

Aspen, Colorado - May 1 - 28

“Rambling West” is the third solo exhibition by The Robert Thomas project with Casterline/Goodman Gallery. This series of paintings draws inspiration from mid-century travel posters and vintage American tourism advertisements, reimagining them through a modern lens. In “Rambling West,” Thomas captures the forgotten allure of 50’s America’s west—the neon-lit motels, scenic highways, and hole in the wall restaurants —rendered in sun-bleached palettes and bold graphic forms reminiscent of 1940s–60s lithography. Beneath the bright surfaces lies a meditation on memory, cultural storytelling, and the commercialization of wanderlust. Thomas plays with scale, typography, and graphic compositions to evoke memories from places that may never have existed—half remembered, half invented. With “Rambling West,” Robert Thomas continues his exploration of Americana and visual culture, inviting us to reflect on the romance of travel, the myth of the open road, and the blurred line between destination and desire.
